What languages are spoken in the Kurdish areas of Iraq?

The Kurdish areas of Iraq, known as Iraqi Kurdistan, are predominantly Kurdish-speaking. The main language spoken is Kurdish, specifically the Sorani dialect.

However, there are other languages also spoken in the region:

* Arabic: Widely spoken, especially in urban areas and among people who have migrated from other parts of Iraq.

* Turkish: Spoken by some communities, particularly in areas bordering Turkey.

* Assyrian Neo-Aramaic: Spoken by the Assyrian Christian community, primarily in the Nineveh Plains.

* Syriac: Spoken by some members of the Syriac Orthodox Church.

* Persian: Spoken by a small number of people in areas near the Iranian border.

It's important to note that while Sorani Kurdish is the dominant language, there are also other Kurdish dialects spoken in smaller pockets within Iraqi Kurdistan, such as Kurmanji and Zazaki.
