What languages are spoken in Rhône-Alpes?

The official language spoken in the Rhône-Alpes region of France, as in the rest of the country, is French.

However, there are several regional languages and dialects that are also spoken in the region, including:

* Franco-Provençal: Also known as Arpitan, this is a Romance language closely related to French, spoken in the mountainous areas of the region, particularly in the Savoie and Haute-Savoie departments.

* Occitan: This is another Romance language spoken in the southeastern part of the region, particularly in the Drôme and Ardèche departments.

* Lombard: A Romance language spoken in the Val d'Aosta region, bordering Italy.

* Piedmontese: Another Romance language spoken in the northwestern part of the region, bordering Italy.

While these regional languages are not as widely spoken as French, they are an important part of the cultural heritage of the Rhône-Alpes region. Many people in the region speak these languages in addition to French, and there are efforts to preserve and promote them.

It is also worth noting that due to the region's proximity to Switzerland and Italy, some residents may also speak German, Italian, or English.
