Why is Africa sometimes spelled with a k?

Africa is not typically spelled with a "k" in English. The spelling with a "k" is only common in certain languages, such as:

* Afrikaans: The official language of South Africa, Afrikaans is derived from Dutch, and uses "k" in words that come from Germanic roots.

* German: German also uses "k" in this context.

* Other languages: Some other languages, such as Swedish and Finnish, may also use "k" instead of "c" in words of foreign origin.

However, in English, the standard spelling of the continent is Africa.
