What language family is based off of Latin?

The language family based off of Latin is called the Romance languages.

Here are some examples of Romance languages:

* Italian

* Spanish

* French

* Portuguese

* Romanian

* Catalan

* Galician

These languages evolved from Vulgar Latin, the spoken language of the Roman Empire, as opposed to the Classical Latin used in literature and formal settings. Over time, different regional dialects of Vulgar Latin diverged and developed into the distinct languages we know today.
