Here's why:
* The Masuda Method relies on breeding Pokémon from different regions. The game recognizes Pokémon originating from a different region (like Japan) as having a different "language" than your own.
* This language difference triggers a higher chance of hatching Shiny Pokémon. It doesn't matter what the actual language is, as long as it's different from the language of your game.
Therefore, if you're breeding two Pokémon from the same region (even if you and your friend have different nationalities), the Masuda Method will not work.
However, there are other ways to increase your Shiny Pokémon chances:
* Shiny Charm: A held item that increases the chance of finding a Shiny Pokémon.
* Chain Fishing/Catching: Catching multiple of the same Pokémon in a row increases your Shiny chance.
* Masuda Method with Regional Variations: If your Pokémon game has different regional forms, you can breed with someone who has a different regional form to increase your Shiny chance.
