Is whole family a compound noun?

"Whole family" is not a compound noun.

Here's why:

* Compound nouns are formed by combining two or more words to create a single noun. Examples include "fireplace", "toothbrush", and "high school".

* Whole family is a phrase where "whole" modifies the noun "family". It's an adjective-noun combination, not a compound noun.

While "whole family" sounds like a single concept, grammatically it's two separate words working together.
