How do you say nephew in Chinese?

There are two ways to say "nephew" in Chinese, depending on whether the nephew is older or younger than the speaker:

Older Nephew:

* 外甥 (wài shēng): This is used for a nephew who is older than the speaker. It literally translates to "outer born," meaning "born to someone outside the speaker's immediate family."

Younger Nephew:

* 侄子 (zhí zi): This is used for a nephew who is younger than the speaker. It literally translates to "son of a younger brother."

Example:

* "My older nephew is a doctor."

* 我外甥是医生。(Wǒ wài shēng shì yī shēng.)

* "My younger nephew is studying music."

* 我侄子在学音乐。(Wǒ zhí zi zài xué yīn yuè.)
