How many languages are spoken in Antarctica?

While there are people living and working in Antarctica, there is no single "language of Antarctica."

The languages spoken depend on the nationality of the people present. For example, you might hear:

* English: The most common language due to the historical influence of English-speaking countries in Antarctic research.

* Russian: Russia has a significant presence in Antarctica.

* Spanish: Due to Argentina and Chile's Antarctic claims.

* French: France has research stations in Antarctica.

* Chinese: China is increasingly active in Antarctic research.

However, the total number of languages spoken is likely quite low. Most people in Antarctica are researchers or support staff, and they come from a limited number of countries.
