Using the Keyboard (Windows & Mac)
* The Easy Way (Windows): Hold down the Alt key and type the number on your numeric keypad (not the number keys above the letters). Here's a cheat sheet:
* Á: Alt + 0193
* É: Alt + 0201
* Í: Alt + 0205
* Ó: Alt + 0211
* Ú: Alt + 0218
* à: Alt + 0224
* è: Alt + 0233
* ì: Alt + 0237
* ò: Alt + 0242
* ù: Alt + 0249
* ñ: Alt + 0241
* Using the Character Map:
1. Go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map (Windows).
2. Find the accent mark you need.
3. Select the character and click Select.
4. Click Copy.
5. Paste the accent mark into your PowerPoint slide.
* Mac Keyboard Shortcuts:
* Option + e (for é)
* Option + u (for ü)
* Option + a (for à)
* Option + n (for ñ)
* Option + i (for í)
Using the Insert Menu (PowerPoint)
1. Go to the Insert tab.
2. Click Symbol.
3. Choose Font: (select the font you want the accent mark to appear in)
4. Choose Subset: (select the appropriate subset for the accent mark, often "Latin-1 Supplement")
5. Locate the accent mark you need.
6. Select the accent mark and click Insert.
PowerPoint Shortcut for Accent Marks
1. Type the letter you want to accent.
2. Press Ctrl + ` (the key to the left of the number 1).
3. Select the accent mark you want from the dropdown menu.
Tips:
* Check Font Compatibility: Some fonts don't support all accent marks. If you can't find the mark you need, try a different font.
* Use Unicode: If you need a wide variety of accent marks, use the Unicode character codes. You can find them online or in a Unicode chart.
* Copy and Paste: If you're using the same accent mark repeatedly, copy and paste it from a document or online resource.
