1. Start with your dominant hand in a "5" handshape: This means you're extending all five fingers.
2. Move your hand in a circular motion: Imagine drawing a small circle in the air, with your hand staying fairly close to your face.
3. Angle your hand slightly: As you make the circular motion, tilt your hand slightly towards your shoulder, so the bottom of your palm is facing upward.
4. Repeat the movement: Do the circular motion a couple of times.
5. Finish with your hand near your ear: You'll end the sign with your hand close to your ear, still in the "5" handshape.
Visual aids:
* You can find videos demonstrating the sign for "language" on YouTube or other ASL resources.
* ASL dictionaries online (such as the one on Lifeprint.com) also often have animated depictions of signs.
Important Note:
The "language" sign is not the same as the "talk" sign in ASL. The "talk" sign uses a different handshape and movement.
Remember, practicing with visual aids and someone who knows ASL is the best way to learn the sign correctly.
