What kinds of sentences use question marks?

Question marks are used at the end of sentences that are direct questions.

Here are some examples of sentence types that use question marks:

* Yes/No questions:

* Are you going to the party?

* Did you finish your homework?

* Wh- questions:

* What is your favorite color?

* When is the movie starting?

* Where did you go?

* Tag questions:

* You're going to the store, aren't you?

* It's a beautiful day, isn't it?

* Rhetorical questions:

Important note: Question marks are not used after sentences that are statements, commands, or exclamations, even if they contain question words like "who", "what", "where", etc.

* Command: Tell me what happened.

* Exclamation: What a beautiful day!
