What do the eora people speak?

The Eora people, the original inhabitants of the Sydney region in Australia, spoke a language known as Eora. This language was part of the Dharugic language family, which encompasses a range of languages spoken by Aboriginal people across the Sydney Basin and surrounding areas.

Unfortunately, Eora, like many other Aboriginal languages, was severely impacted by colonization and the suppression of Indigenous cultures. It is now considered extinct, meaning that it is no longer spoken fluently by any living individuals. However, there are ongoing efforts to revitalize the language through research, documentation, and language learning programs.
