What do stone age people speak?

We don't have any recordings of what Stone Age people spoke! Here's why:

* No written records: The Stone Age predates writing, so there are no written languages from that period.

* Language changes constantly: Even in the time since writing was invented, languages have changed dramatically. Think about how different English is from Old English, which was spoken centuries ago!

* No preserved sounds: Spoken language is not preserved in the way that artifacts are. We can't listen to what people from the Stone Age sounded like.

What we can do:

* Linguistic reconstruction: Scientists can study modern languages and their relationships to reconstruct ancient languages, but this is a complex process and doesn't give us exact words or sounds.

* Study tools: Examining tools and artwork can give clues about the complexity of their societies and how they communicated.

So, while we don't know the exact languages of the Stone Age, scientists are working to understand more about how people communicated in those times.
