Who coined the term global village?

The term "global village" is most commonly attributed to Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian media theorist and philosopher.

He first used the term in his 1962 book, "The Gutenberg Galaxy: The Making of Typographic Man", and later popularized it in his 1964 book, "Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man".

McLuhan argued that electronic media, particularly television, were shrinking the world and creating a sense of interconnectedness between people across the globe, similar to the social interactions found within a traditional village.
