What language do sami people speak?

The Sami people speak a group of languages known as Sami languages, which are part of the Uralic language family.

There are 11 recognized Sami languages, each with its own unique dialectal variation:

* Northern Sami: Spoken in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.

* Lule Sami: Spoken in Sweden and Norway.

* Pite Sami: Spoken in Sweden.

* Ume Sami: Spoken in Sweden.

* Inari Sami: Spoken in Finland.

* Skolt Sami: Spoken in Finland and Russia.

* Ter Sami: Spoken in Norway.

* Southern Sami: Spoken in Norway.

* Lule Sami: Spoken in Sweden and Norway.

* Pite Sami: Spoken in Sweden.

* Ume Sami: Spoken in Sweden.

It's important to note that:

* Some of these languages are considered endangered, with only a few hundred speakers.

* Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, and Russian are also widely spoken by Sami people, especially in urban areas.

* There is no single "Sami language." The Sami people have diverse linguistic traditions.

If you're interested in learning more about Sami languages, I recommend exploring resources from the Sami Language Centre and the Sami Parliament.
