What language does the word loot come from?

The word "loot" comes from Middle Dutch and specifically from the word "looten" which means "to seize, to plunder".

It's interesting to note that the word "loot" entered the English language through Middle Dutch, but its ultimate origin is Old Norse, where the word was "hlot".
