While some of their myths and legends could be considered fantastical, they lacked the systematic exploration of future technologies, alternate realities, and the impact of scientific advancements that characterize science fiction.
Instead, Greek literature focused on:
* Epic poetry: Like the Odyssey and the Iliad
* Drama: Including tragedy and comedy
* Philosophy: From Socrates to Aristotle
* History: As seen in the works of Herodotus and Thucydides
Science fiction as a genre wouldn't emerge until much later in literary history.
