Where did the dutch people settle first in America?

The Dutch first settled in New Netherland, which encompassed parts of what is now New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

Their first permanent settlement was Fort Nassau in 1614, located near present-day Albany, New York. However, the most significant and enduring Dutch settlement was New Amsterdam, founded in 1624 on Manhattan Island.

New Amsterdam eventually grew into the bustling city of New York City after the English took control of the colony in 1664.
