What language does the word carousel come from?

The word "carousel" comes from Italian.

It originates from the word "carosello", which itself is a diminutive form of "carosella", meaning "little wagon".

Interestingly, "carosello" was originally used to describe a type of horse race or military training exercise, but later came to be associated with the amusement ride we know today.
