From What language did the word tomato originate?

The word "tomato" comes from the Nahuatl language, spoken by the Aztecs.

The original Nahuatl word was tomatl. When the Spanish conquistadors encountered the tomato in Mexico, they adopted this word and brought it back to Europe, where it eventually evolved into "tomato."
