Who was the polymath that invented basic English?

There is no polymath who invented "Basic English".

Basic English was a simplified form of English developed by C. K. Ogden, a British philosopher and linguist, in the 1920s and 1930s.

Ogden believed that a simplified version of English could facilitate communication between people who spoke different languages. He created Basic English by reducing the vocabulary to 850 words and simplifying grammar rules.

While Ogden's efforts were significant, Basic English never achieved widespread adoption, though it did find some use in teaching English as a second language and in international communication.
