What culture is bungalow from?

The bungalow style of architecture originated in India.

While the term "bungalow" itself is of Hindi origin, the style itself developed as a type of low-slung, single-story house built by the British during their colonial rule in India. These homes were designed to be comfortable in the hot climate and often featured verandahs, large windows, and a focus on natural ventilation.

When British officers returned to England, they brought the concept of the bungalow with them, and the style quickly became popular in the UK and then spread to other parts of the world, including North America.

So, while the bungalow has evolved and adapted in different locations, its roots are firmly planted in Indian culture.
