Do you capitalize the word history if it is not first in a sentence?

You generally don't capitalize the word "history" unless it's:

* The first word of a sentence: "History is a fascinating subject."

* Part of a proper noun: "American History," "World History"

* In a title: "The History of the World"

Otherwise, it remains lowercase: "I studied European history in college."
