Where id the word wellingtons come from?

The word "Wellingtons" comes from Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, a famous British military leader.

The boots themselves were named after him because he was known for wearing them during his military campaigns, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars.

While the boots were not actually invented by Wellington himself, he was a big fan of them and they became very popular among the British military.

Over time, the term "Wellington boots" or "Wellingtons" became the common name for this type of tall, waterproof boot.
