What is the former Russian parliament called?

The former Russian parliament was called the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union.

This is a bit of a simplification, as the name actually changed a few times:

* 1917-1936: The All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) was the governing body of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.

* 1936-1989: The Supreme Soviet of the USSR was the highest organ of state power in the Soviet Union.

* 1989-1991: The Congress of People's Deputies was established as a new legislative body, alongside the Supreme Soviet.

It's important to note that the modern Russian parliament, the State Duma, was established after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
