What languages are spoken in Gaborone?

The official language of Botswana, and therefore Gaborone, is English. However, the most widely spoken language in Gaborone is Setswana, a Bantu language.

While English is used in government, education, and business, Setswana is spoken by the majority of the population in everyday life. You'll also find other languages spoken in the city, including:

* Kalanga

* Ndebele

* Herero

* Afrikaans (primarily among the descendants of early European settlers)

* Other Southern African languages

It's worth noting that English proficiency varies within Gaborone. While many residents are fluent in English, particularly in urban areas, some communities still primarily communicate in Setswana.
