Where did the gypsies originate from?

The term "gypsy" is considered offensive and outdated. It's important to use the preferred term, Roma (or Romany), for people of this ethnicity.

The Roma people are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group who originated in the Indian subcontinent. They migrated to Europe in several waves, starting around the 11th century.

The exact route and timeline of their migration are still debated, but it's generally believed they traveled through Persia, the Middle East, and eventually into Europe. They have historically faced discrimination and persecution, and their culture and traditions have been preserved despite the challenges they have faced.
