When did the dutch settlers set up their colony in America?

The Dutch settlers did not set up a colony in America. The Dutch established the colony of New Netherland in North America, which included present-day New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

New Netherland was established in 1624. The Dutch West India Company, a chartered company, was responsible for colonizing the region. The colony's main settlement, New Amsterdam, was founded in 1625 on Manhattan Island.

The Dutch lost control of New Netherland to the English in 1664, when the colony was renamed New York.
