What country did the word allergy originate?

The word "allergy" originated in Germany.

It was coined by Dr. Clemens von Pirquet, an Austrian pediatrician, in 1906.

He combined the Greek words "allos" (meaning "other") and "ergon" (meaning "work") to describe the "altered reactivity" of the immune system that causes allergic reactions.
