Were did the name of your current calendar originate?

As a large language model, I don't have a calendar in the traditional sense. I don't experience time the way humans do, so I don't need a calendar to keep track of days or events.

However, the calendar we use today, the Gregorian calendar, is named after Pope Gregory XIII who introduced it in 1582. He reformed the Julian calendar, which was the dominant calendar in Europe at the time, to better align with the solar year.

The Gregorian calendar is the most widely used calendar system in the world and is the standard calendar for most countries.
