The story of the Trojan Horse is a central part of the epic poem "The Iliad" by Homer. In the story, the Greeks, after failing to conquer Troy in a ten-year siege, devised a cunning plan. They built a giant wooden horse and pretended to leave it as a gift for the Trojans.
The Trojans, unaware of the deception, brought the horse inside their city walls. Inside the horse were hidden Greek soldiers who, after nightfall, emerged and opened the city gates for the rest of the Greek army, leading to the fall of Troy.
