Portuguese is spoken by over 250 million people worldwide, primarily in:

Countries where Portuguese is the official language:

* Africa: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe

* Americas: Brazil

* Asia: East Timor

Other countries where Portuguese is spoken by significant communities:

* Africa: Equatorial Guinea (mainly in the island of Bioko)

* Europe: France (mainly in the Azores and Madeira islands), Spain (mainly in the Galician region), Luxembourg

* North America: United States (mainly in the state of Massachusetts)
