Why do Brazilians talk puortugese if they are not polish?

This is a great example of how language names can be confusing!

* Portuguese is the language spoken in Portugal, and Brazil. It is a Romance language descended from Latin, like Spanish, French, and Italian.

* Polish is a Slavic language spoken in Poland.

While the names sound similar, they are completely different languages!

Here's the reason Brazil speaks Portuguese:

* Colonial History: Brazil was colonized by Portugal starting in the 16th century. The Portuguese language became the dominant language during this period, and it has been passed down through generations since then.
