How do you say bye in sign language?

There are actually two common ways to sign "bye" in American Sign Language (ASL):

1. "Goodbye" (pronounced "good-bye")

* Sign: Make a "G" handshape (thumb and pinky extended, other fingers closed) and touch your chin. Then move your hand outward, palm facing forward, as if you're pushing something away.

* Visual: Imagine you're pushing away the word "goodbye."

2. "See you later"

* Sign: Make a "Y" handshape (thumb and index finger extended, others closed) and bring it from your chest out in front of you, palm facing forward.

* Visual: Imagine you're "seeing" the person you're saying goodbye to later.

Important Note: There are regional variations and personal preferences in sign language. It's always a good idea to learn from a qualified ASL instructor to ensure you're using the correct signs for your area.
