What is the suffix Sr and Jr?

The suffixes "Sr." and "Jr." stand for Senior and Junior, respectively. They are used after a person's name to distinguish between generations of people with the same name within a family.

* Sr. (Senior) is used after the name of the older person.

* Jr. (Junior) is used after the name of the younger person.

Example:

* John Smith Sr. (father)

* John Smith Jr. (son)

These suffixes are commonly used in formal settings, such as legal documents and business correspondence. In informal settings, it is more common to use "the elder" and "the younger" instead.
