What part of speech is alternative?

"Alternative" can be several parts of speech depending on how it's used in a sentence:

* Adjective: Describing something that is different from something else, offering another possibility.

* Example: "We need to find an alternative solution."

* Noun: Something that is different from something else, a choice or option.

* Example: "There is no alternative to hard work."

* Verb: To offer or suggest something as an alternative. (Less common)

* Example: "The company alternated between two different marketing strategies."

So, the part of speech depends on its function within the sentence!
