Name and explain 2 types of prewritting?

2 Types of Prewriting:

1. Freewriting: This is a stream-of-consciousness technique where you write whatever comes to mind without stopping, censoring, or worrying about grammar or spelling. The goal is to get your ideas flowing and explore different angles of your topic. It's like brainstorming on paper, letting your mind wander and discover connections you might not have noticed otherwise.

Benefits:

* Helps overcome writer's block by getting you started.

* Allows you to explore a wide range of ideas and connections.

* Can uncover unexpected insights and perspectives.

Example: If you're writing about the impact of social media, you might start with: "Social media. Everywhere. People glued to their phones. FOMO. But also connection. Sharing lives. Sharing opinions. Can be harmful. Can be helpful. Depends on how you use it. People addicted. But also good for activism. Organizing. Protests. Social change."

2. Clustering/Mapping: This technique uses a visual approach to organizing your thoughts. You start with a central idea and then branch out with related thoughts and ideas, connecting them with lines or arrows. This creates a visual representation of your thinking process and helps you see relationships between different concepts.

Benefits:

* Provides a visual representation of your ideas and their connections.

* Helps you organize and categorize information.

* Allows you to identify gaps and inconsistencies in your thinking.

Example: For the same topic of social media, you might start with a central circle labeled "Social Media." From there, you draw lines to other circles representing "Pros," "Cons," "Addiction," "Impact on Mental Health," "Social Change," etc. You can then continue to branch out from these circles with further details and related ideas.

Both freewriting and clustering are excellent prewriting strategies, and you can even use them together for a more comprehensive approach. The best method for you will depend on your personal preferences and the nature of your writing project.
