What part of speech is bought?

"Bought" can be two different parts of speech:

* Past tense verb: This is the most common usage. It's the past tense of the verb "buy." For example: "I bought a new car yesterday."

* Past participle: This is used in conjunction with auxiliary verbs like "have" or "had." For example: "I have bought groceries for the week."

So, depending on the context, "bought" can be either a verb or a past participle.
