What part of speech is dangerously?

"Dangerously" is an adverb.

Here's why:

* Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. In the sentence "He drove dangerously," "dangerously" modifies the verb "drove" and tells us *how* he drove.

* Adverbs often end in "-ly." While not all words ending in "-ly" are adverbs, it's a common characteristic.
