Where does the word duffel come from?

The word "duffel" comes from the Belgian town of Duffel, which was known for producing a strong, coarse woolen fabric used to make bags.

The fabric was so popular that it became synonymous with the bags themselves, and eventually the term "duffel bag" was coined.
