Is to or in a linking verb?

"To" and "in" are prepositions, not linking verbs.

Linking verbs connect the subject of a sentence to a word or phrase that renames or describes the subject. Examples of linking verbs include:

* be (is, am, are, was, were, been, being)

* appear

* become

* feel

* look

* seem

* smell

* sound

* taste

Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence. They often indicate location, direction, time, or manner.

Prepositions:
