Prepositional Phrases
* The cat sat on the mat, which was covered in dust. (The entire phrase "on the mat" is the prepositional phrase)
* I walked through the door and into the garden. (Both "through the door" and "into the garden" are prepositional phrases)
* She is waiting for her friend at the bus stop. ("for her friend" and "at the bus stop" are prepositional phrases)
Note: Prepositions can also be used in combination with other words to create complex phrases. For example, "in front of," "behind," and "according to" are all examples of prepositional phrases.
