Should sir have a capital letter in sentence?

The word "sir" should have a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence, just like any other word.

For example:

* Sir, may I have your attention please?

* Sir, you are mistaken.

However, "sir" should not be capitalized when it is used as a title after a name, such as:

* Captain Smith sir.

* Mr. Jones sir.
