Does a sentence have more than one subject?

A sentence can have multiple subjects if they are connected by a compound subject.

Here are some examples:

* The cat and the dog played in the yard. (Both "cat" and "dog" are subjects)

* My mom and I went shopping. (Both "mom" and "I" are subjects)

* The students and the teacher were excited for the field trip. (Both "students" and "teacher" are subjects)

Important Notes:

* Compound subjects are joined by conjunctions like "and," "or," or "nor."

* Each subject in a compound subject should agree in number with the verb.
