What is the preposition of similar?

The word "similar" is not a preposition. It is an adjective.

Prepositions are words that show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence. Examples of prepositions include:

* to

* from

* at

* on

* in

* with

* by

You can use "similar" in a sentence with a preposition:

* The two paintings are similar to each other.

* This dress is similar in style to the one I saw yesterday.

In these sentences, "to" and "in" are prepositions, but "similar" is the adjective describing the noun ("paintings" and "dress").
